Effect of supplemental selenium of performance and deposit of selenium in blood and hair of finishing beef cattle.

چکیده
Two experiments were conducted to study the effect of supplemental selenium at levels of 0, .1, .2, or .4 mg/kg to a finishing beef catt le diet containing .08 mg/kg. In one experiment, an increase (P<.05) in gain was obtained from adding .1 mg selenium per kilogram. However, in a second experiment, no benefit was obtained from adding .1 mg/kg and supplemental levels of either .2 or .4 mg/kg resulted in a significant depression in rate of gain, indicating the range between sub-optimal and possible growth-depressing levels of dietary selenium for beef cattle may be quite narrow. Selenium levels in whole blood, serum or hair reflected levels of dietary selenium. (

Protein and selenium levels for growing and finishing beef cattle.
Two feedlot studies were conducted with 96 Hereford steers to assess the relationship be:ween selenium adequacy and protein requirements of growing and finishing cattle. The first study was a 98-day growing trial with feeder steers as they gained from 230 to 340 kilograms. Diets contained 55% corn silage (dry matter basis) with shelled corn and were supplemented with soybean meal and sodium sel...

This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of nano selenium (nano-Se) and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on performance, biometric and blood parametersand selenoprotein W1 (SEPW1) and lipid gene expression in male Moghani lambs. Thirty male Moghani lambs, 3-months-old and weighing 30 ± 0.25 kg, were used in completely randomized design in a 2 × 3 factorial arrangement with dietary suppl...
متن کاملEffect of Different Sources of Selenium on Performance, Health, Growth Factor and Some Blood Parameters of Dairy Calves
The trace elements such as selenium can be included in the diet from a variety of sources. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of incorporation of inorganic, organic and nano selenium in the diets of dairy calves on their performance, health, growth factor and some of their blood parameters. Forty-eight newborn Holstein calves were used in a completely randomized design ove...

This study was designed to compare the effects of different levels of mineral selenium in diet on growth performance, some blood indices and juvenile beluga carcass composition (Huso huso) within 10 weeks. For this purpose, a number of 315 fry with an average weight of 15.66 ± 0.77 grams were stocked in the twenty-one 500-liter fiberglass tanks (15 per each). Seven diets containing different le...
